SUNDER MOHAN.J, This Criminal Miscellaneous Petition has been filed seeking extension for time to complete the investigation and file the final report as per the direction given by this Court in Crl.O.P.No.3723 of 2021 by order dated 22.07.2022.

2. Earlier, this Court had directed to transfer the investigation to CBCID, Chennai and further directed them to complete the investigation and file a final report within a period of three months.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the respondents would submit that subsequent to the transfer, the CBCID, Chennai had examined the witnesses and they need some more time to examine further witnesses and to complete the investigation.

The learned counsel for the respondent would submit that the time given by this Court by order dated 22.07.2022 to complete the investigation and file a final report within a period of three months is expired on December 2022. Hence, the respondent police may be directed to expedite the investigation.

5. On perusal of the pleadings and submissions on either side, this Court is of the view that the petitioners can be granted further period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order to complete the investigation in Crime No.14 of 2022.

6. In view of the above direction, this Criminal Miscellaneous petition is ordered.
