Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents herein to dispose of the representation dated 22.12.2022 requesting the first respondent not to change the name of the road viz. GST Road, Madurantakam, Chengalpattu District, situated in State Highways SHU7(80/4) running to an extent of 1.80 kilometer and in case of change of the name, the same shall not be named forming S.K.Ukumchand as part of the same.

ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondents to dispose of his representation dated 22.12.2022 requesting the first respondent not to change the name of the road viz. GST Road, Madurantakam, Chengalpattu District, situated in State Highways SHU-7(80/4) running to an extent of 1.80 kilometer and in case of change of name, the same shall not be named forming S.D.Ukumchand as part of the same.

2. Though the petitioner claims that the name of GST Road may not be changed, he has not produced any resolution of the Madurantakam Municipality indicating their decision to change the name of the GST Road.

3. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that a rumour is going around that the name of the GST Road will be

changed and that the name S.K.Ukumchand will form part of the new name.

4. We are unable to find any merit in this public interest litigation, as no material has been produced to show that the name of the GST Road is going to be changed and that the writ petition has been filed on assumption and presumption, without any element of public interest.

5. In view of the above, this writ petition is dismissed. There will be no order as to costs.
