C.M.P.No.3922 of 2025 and A.S.SR.No.20136 of 2024 Dr.G.JAYACHANDRAN, J.

This petition is filed to condone the delay of 1647 days in filing the A.S.SR.No.20136 of 2024.

2. The present matter arises out of compensation awarded for land acquired from the public. Not being satisfied with the quantum of the compensation, the erstwhile landowners preferred an appeal with an enormous delay.

3. Since the matter pertains to the property rights of the citizens, it is hereby clarified that if there is any enhancement of compensation in the appeal, the claimants/landowners shall not be entitled for any interest on the enhanced compensation, including solatium, for the period of delay.

4. Subject to the above condition, the delay of 1647 days is condoned and this petition is ordered accordingly.
