This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the third respondent to permit the petitioner to conduct cock fight on 24.02.2024 and 25.02.2024 in Kalambakkam Village, situated in Thiruvalangadu block, Tiruttani Taluk, Thiruvallur District.
2. Heard Mr.D.Bennington, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.A.Damodaran, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for respondents.
3. When the matter was taken up for hearing, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, submitted that the place where the cock fight is slated to be held belongs to the Panchayat and the President of the Panchayat has given an objection saying that no permission has been given to conduct cock fight in that place. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor, therefore, submitted that only if the Panchayat gives permission, the police can consider granting protection to the petitioner. 2/4
4. In the light of the above stand taken by the respondent police, no further orders can be passed in this writ petition. It is left open to the petitioner to get the permission from the concerned Panchayat and thereafter, approach the police seeking for police protection.
