The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to issue a surrender 1/4

certificate on the basis of the petitioner's request dated 15.04.2019 at an early date.

2.The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner was born in Puducherry on 21.05.1951 and she married one Jayachandran, who is a native of Karaikkal on 18.08.1969. Though her name is Sarah Devy Marie Madeleine, after her marriage, her husband used to call her as Jayasarah and in all the documents, her name was entered as Jayasarah. The petitioner's husband has passed away and her son is residing in France. Since no one is there to take care of the petitioner in India, she wish to go to France, for which, she surrendered her Indian Passport and requested the respondent to issue surrender certificate by paying necessary charges. However, her request has not yet been considered. Hence, this writ petition. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that without going into the merits of the case, it would suffice, if this Court issues direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 15.04.2019 and to pass appropriate orders within a reasonable time frame.

4.Though the name of the learned counsel appearing for the respondent appeared in the cause list, there is no representation for the respondent.

5.Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 15.04.2019 seeking issuance of surrender certificate, on merits and in accordance with law and to pass appropriate orders, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
