O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner in the petition has disclosed material to support the allegation that soliciting and prostitution is continuing specifically through use of technology. There are telephone numbers publicized in this behalf and despite his representation dated 04.04.2015, nothing was done, which compelled him to approach the Court.

2.The counter-affifdavit now filed by the respondent shows that steps were taken to forward the representation of the

petitioner to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, on point of jurisdiction vide letter dated 16.04.2015, who, in turn, forwarded an action taken report on 01.06.2016. The petitioner is right in contending that there is no reason why it took fourteen months for this response and that the authorities appeared to have moved quickly only after the petition was filed. 3.In respect of the specific seven mobile numbers mentioned by the petitioner, it is stated, only two were found to be active. The petitioner states that there are many more numbers. That may be right because often process of change of numbers would be a methodology utilised to prevent detection. 4.Now action is stated to have been carried on and a summary detail of the same is as under:

2016 upto 30.04.201 The respondent authorities have also initiated action for deleting the offending pages from the websites. 5.The petitioner submits that while the details of the traffickers arrested have been given, only a small fraction of them had been detained under the Goondas Act. He, thus, submits that for future, a column may be added of the action taken in respect of others.

6.We are, thus, of the view that no further directions are required in the matter except that the concerned authorities should continue to perform their duties in accordance with law. But, in order to ensure the continued action, we would monitor it for some time to see that the seriousness is maintained.

7.Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. 8.List for compliance on 16.09.2016.

9.Compliance report be filed at least three days prior to the next date of hearing, with advance copy to the petitioner.
