ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by R.Subramanian J.) Mr.S.Karmegam, I.A.S., the then District Collector of Salem District is present in person.
2. This petition has been filed seeking condonation of delay of 1448 days. The reason assigned for the delay are as follows:- "7. I submit that the soon after the receipt of the said orders dated 29.01.2020, the petitioner / appellant immediately instituted action considering various aspects including the appropriate service rules. Due to outbreak of II-nd wave of COVID during 2021 throughout the country and post 2021 Assembly Election works, this delay of preferring the writ appeal on the said orders made by this Hon'ble Court has happened which is purely on administrative grounds."
3. The above said reasons cannot be considered to be a sufficient cause for condonation of more than 1440 days. Hence, this petition is dismissed.
4. The present District Collector of Salem has also filed an affidavit stating that the Department has decided not to pursue the appeal and the order of the learned single Judge has since been complied with.
