The prayer sought for herein is for a Writ of Mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to return Document No.P/Singanallur/222/2022 in Receipts No.23916/2022 dated 12.12.2022 after registration to the petitioner. 1 / 4

2. The petitioner presented a document for registration with the 2nd respondent, who kept it pending as pending document in Document No.222 of 2022 dated 12.12.2022. Therefore, in order to release the document, the petitioner has moved the present writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

4. Learned Special Government Pleader would submit that if the document has not been kept pending for action under Section 33-A / 47-A of the Indian Stamp Act, certainly the document would be released and if it is pending for the said reason, further proceedings would be initiated according to law.

5. Having considered the said submission made by the learned Special Government Pleader, this Court directs the 2nd respondent to look into the matter and verify whether the document has been kept pending for the aforesaid reason to initiate proceedings under Section 33-A or 47-A of the Indian Stamp Act, otherwise the document can be released. Anyhow, the needful shall be undertaken by the 2nd respondent and communicated to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2 / 4
