ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to renew the petitioner's passport bearing number E7685943 based on the online application made by the petitioner.

2. Mr.T.L.Thirumalai, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the 1st respondent & Mr.E.Veda Bagath Singh, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the 2nd respondent.

It is the case of the petitioner that he had applied for renewal of passport through online vide application dated 20.10.2023 with the Office of the 1st respondent, however, the 1st respondent had refused to renew the petitioner's passport in view of the fact that there is a Criminal case pending against the petitioner in Crime No.78 of 2017 under Section 406 of I.P.C on 2/6

the file of the 2nd respondent. Hence, this Writ Petition has been filed with the above said prayer.

4. This Court heard the learned counsel appearing on either side.

In view of the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case directs the 1t respondent herein to consider the renewal application dated 20.10.2022 made by the petitioner through online seeking for renewal of passport and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. This writ petition is disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs.
