Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act 1971 seeking to punish the respondents for non-compliance of the order passed in W.A.No.1274 of 2021 dated 11.10.2022.

ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard Mr.S.N.Ravichandran, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader for respondents 1 and 3 and Mr.V.Vijay Shankar, learned counsel for respondent 2.

2. The amount has been paid to the petitioner, calculating the interest at the rate of 8.7% per annum.

3. Learned State Government Pleader, in the writ petition, accepted that the rate of interest is 12% per annum. The Court while deciding the writ petition, accepted the statement of the learned Government Pleader.

4. Now, the authorities cannot turn around and contend

otherwise. The payment shall be made calculating the interest at the rate of 12% per annum. The remaining amount of interest shall be paid within a period of three months from today.

5. In the light of that, the contempt petition stands disposed of. (S.V.G., CJ.) (D.B.C., J.) 22.11.2023 Index :
