The petitioner who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 05.01.2024 for the offences registered by the respondent Police under Sections 109, 420, 465, 468, 471 r/w 34 of IPC in Crime No.97 of 2019, seeks bail.

2.It is stated that there are totally four accused. A1 and A2 had been granted anticipatory bail by directing them to deposit of Rs.7,50,000/-. A3 had been granted bail.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner stated that this petitioner is a servant maid and does know about the nature of the allegations against A1, A2 and A3. He further stated that they had collected amounts of Rs.85,000/- each from 150 individuals promising them to get housing allotment from the slum clearance board. The had collected a total amount of Rs.88,41,000/-. 4.The learned counsel further stated that as against the petitioner with respect to similar allegations, earlier to this complaint, a complaint was also lodged before the CCB, Chennai and it is stated that with respect to that particular complaint, FIR had been registered and after filing the final report, the matter is now pending before the Special Court for CCB cases, Chennai. 1/3

It is stated that one of the main accused is one Pon Singam who had influenced everybody to give the money for purpose of allotment of houses in Slum Clearance Board. It is stated that the petitioner was only a servant maid under Pon Singam.

5.The petitioner was remanded to judicial custody on 05.01.2024. It would only indicate that though the FIR had been registered in the year 2019, she had been absconding for more than two years. The petitioner had been released on bail in the earlier case on 04.06.2018. Therefore, from the date of registration of the FIR, she had been absconding. 6.At this stage, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. 7.Let the investigation progress to a further extent, then the application seeking bail can be considered.
