PRAYER: Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act 1971, praying to punish the respondent for willfully disobeying the orders of this Court made in W.P.No.1167 of 2020 dated 23.07.2021. ORDER
Heard Mr.R.Karthikeyan, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr.P.Kumaresan, learned Additional Advocate General assisted by Mr.E.Veda Bagath Singh, Special Government Pleader for the respondent.
2. In pursuance of the directions of this Court to consider the petitioner's request for granting conversion/transfer by relaxing the age limit, in terms of G.O.Ms.No.1598, Home (Police-III) Department, dated 05.11.1997, whereby, this Court had directed the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation, in the light of the earlier orders 2/4
passed by this Court in W.P.Nos.4245 of 2014, 8481 of 2014 and 1579 of 2020 within a stipulated time, the Government, through G.O.Ms.No.155, dated 19.03.2022, claims to have complied with the order of this Court.
3. Stating that the said Government Order is not in confirmity with the order of this Court passed in W.P.No.1167 of 2020, whereby, the first respondent was directed to consider the petitioner's representation in the light of the orders passed in the writ petitions mentioned therein, the present contempt petition has been filed.
4. The learned Additional Advocate General produced a copy of G.O.(D) No.571, Home (Police-III) Department, dated 28.04.2022, whereby the Government Order in G.O.Ms.No.155, dated 19.03.2022, was canceled.
5. Since the contempt petition has been filed only on the basis of the order passed in G.O.Ms.No.155, which has now been cancelled, no effective orders can be passed in the present petition. Accordingly, the Contempt Petition stands closed.
