Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of a direction in the nature of Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the respondents 1and 2 from considering the names of respondents 3 to 16 for promotion to the next higher post of Additional Superintendent of Police, pending disposal of the SLP.No.8980 and 8981 of 2011 connected matters against the judgment and order dated 04.03.2011 in W.A.Nos.1063 of 2009 and W.A.No.1287 of 2009 and pass such further orders.

When the matter was taken up for hearing on 07.03.2024, there was no representation on behalf of the petitioner and the matter was directed to be listed on 08.03.2024. Again, the matter was listed for hearing on 08.03.2024, there was no representation for the petitioner. Hence, this Court directed the Registry to list the matter under the caption "For Dismissal" on 12.03.2024.

2. Even today, 12.03.2024, when the matter was taken up for hearing at 10.45 a.m., none appeared on behalf of the petitioner. It is made clear and evident that the petitioner is not interested in prosecuting the case.

3. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for respondents 1 and 2 submitted that the prayer of the writ petition is that forbearing the respondents 1and 2 from considering the names of respondents 3 to 16 for promotion to the next higher post of Additional Superintendent of Police, pending disposal of the SLP.No.8980 and 8981 of 2011 connected matters against the judgment and order dated 04.03.2011 in W.A.No.1063 of 2009 and W.A.No.1287 of 2009.

4. Learned Additional Government Pleader further submitted that SLP.Nos.8980 and 8981 of 2011 were dismissed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court on 15.09.2016.

5. Learned Additional Government Pleader further submitted that the petitioner and other respondents were promoted to the next post i.e. Additional Superintendent of Police. Hence, nothing survives in this writ petition for further adjudication.

In the result, this writ petition stands dismissed as infructuous. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
