Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the issuance of writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent herein to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 13.12.2014 by releasing his retirement benefits and grant pension in accordance with law.

O R D E R

The petitioner worked as Driver in Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and on attaining the age of superannuation, he retired on 31.05.2012.

2. The petitioner was not paid the retirement benefits presumably on account of the stand taken by the respondent that a sum of Rs.3,95,250/- is due from him to the Corporation. The petitioner submitted a representation on 13.12.2014 requesting the respondent to release his retirement benefits. However, there was no follow up action taken by the respondent, resulting in filing the writ petition.

3. Heard the learned Counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel on behalf of the respondent.

4. The respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 13.12.2014 on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
