Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to forthwith release the payment to the tune of Rs.1,53,01,550.34 towards the bills payable to the petitioner pursuant to the work of Junction Improvement at Kilometer 7/4 of Pallavaram - Thuraipakkam Road under Letter of Acceptance dated 03.11.2020.

This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to forthwith release the payment to the tune of Rs.1,53,01,550.34 towards the bills payable to the petitioner pursuant to the work of Junction Improvement at Kilometer 7/4 of Pallavaram - Thuraipakkam Road under Letter of Acceptance dated 03.11.2020.

2.The learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is Class I Contractor at State Level. The 2/4

petitioner participated in the tender floated by the first respondent for the work of Junction Improvement at Kilometer 7/4 of Pallavaram - Thuraipakkam Road and the petitioner was declared as the lowest bidder and the petitioner raised bills for the work he completed, however, the amount is not yet settled.

3.The learned Special Government Pleader produced a copy of the status report filed by the Assistant Divisional Engineer wherein, it is stated that 'after getting reallocated funds from the Transport Commissioner and revised proceedings pending bills will be settled to the contractor/ petitioner after completion of work. 4.In view of the report filed by the Assistant Divisional Engineer, this Court directs the third respondent to settle the bill amount to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.The writ petition is disposed of with the above observation. No costs.
