Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus, directing the 2nd respondent police to produce the petitioner's wife namely Mrs. Saranya @ Saranya Devi, aged 19 years, wrongfully confined by the respondents 3 to 5 and produce before this Court and set her liberty .

O R D E R

1. The detenue Saranya @ Saranya Devi, who is aged approximately 19 years, has been produced.

2. We interviewed the detenue.

3.The detenue says that she does not wish to return to the house of the petitioner.

3.1. The petitioner is the husband of detenue.

4. We are also told that proceedings have been initiated by the detenue for dissolution of marriage.

5. We had asked the detenue whether she wants the matter to be referred to a Mediator.

6. The detenue says that she has been tortured by her husband both physically and mentally, and therefore, mediation would not help.

7. We are not expressing any view on this aspect of the matter.

8. According to us, the petition has served its purpose and it is, accordingly closed.

9. Both parties will be at liberty to take recourse to an appropriate remedy in law to ventilate their respective grievances.
