ORDER
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the First Additional Sessions Court, Chennai, to conclude the trial in S.C.No.247 of 2016 as expeditiously as possible. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents and perused the materials placed on record. The petitioner, who is none else than the Investigating Officer of the case in Crime No.4604 of 2012 for the offences under Sections 147, 148, 324, 302 of IPC, read with Section 3 of TNPPDL Act, came forward to file this petition seeking speedy conclusion of the trial in S.C.No.247 of 2016. The petitioner would aver among other things that the final report in the above case was filed as early as in the year 2014 and 28 persons were cited as witnesses.
Out of 22 accused, two accused persons have been absconding and the case has been split up in respect of them and is pending on the file of the Court of learned I Additional Judge at Chennai in S.C.No.194 of 2017 and that charges have also been framed and the case is pending trial right from the year 2016 and hence, prays for conclusion of the same.
Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances, this Court directs the I Additional Sessions Court, Chennai, to conclude the Trial in S.C.No.247 of 2016 as expeditiously as possible, within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with the above directions.
