O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 11.01.2025 to give an appointment to the petitioner on the compassionate ground.

2. In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition, it had been contended that the petitioner who is aged 29 years had completed his B.Tech degree in Pondicherry University in the year 2016. His father P.Soundararajan was a driver under the respondents with employee No.DR2192 working in Pondicherry Branch of the respondents. Unfortunately, the father of the petitioner died on 08.09.2019. The petitioner had then given a representation on 06.01.2020 seeking appointment on compassionate ground.

3. Instructions were sought from the respondents and it had been 2/5

informed that the application of the petitioner is in seniority Sl.No.331 and that since the petitioner had completed his B.Tech, an employment in the office/administrative wing hopefully commensurate with his qualification would be offered to him but in accordance with the seniority. It is contended that the post of drivers are filled up independent of this and if it is a post of driver, then it could be granted to him. But the petitioner having qualified himself with B.Tech it would only be prudent that he awaits his turn to be employed under the respondents.

4. A direction is issued to the respondents that they should employ the petitioner in accordance with the seniority and there should not be any deviation from the seniority list.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
