ORDER

The writ petition has been filed in the nature of Mandamus, seeking direction to the respondent to enter the name of the petitioner, in the Birth Certificate, which had been registered as No.10 dated 16.07.1963.

2. The petitioner stated that he was born on 15.07.1963. The names of his parents were Poongavanam and Mohanam. The said birth was registered as No.10 dated 16.07.1963. It is stated that unfortunately, his name had not been entered in the Birth Certificate. It is stated that when he wanted to correct that in the service register, his employer wanted the name in the Birth Certificate. The petitioner had given a representation to the respondent namely the Sub-Registrar Cum Registrar of Births and Deaths, Chetpet,

3. It is stated by the learned Additional Government Pleader that the representation has to be given to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Thiruvannamalai District, who is the competent authority. Let a fresh representation be given to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Thiruvannamalai District. The petitioner has also sought for correction of his date of Birth. That is not permissible without due enquiry. The name alone can be entered in the Birth Certificate. Necessary enquiries can be made by the Revenue Divisional Officer and the name alone can be entered. The change of date of birth, is a separate issue and it cannot be addressed at this stage.
