This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the Judicial Magistrate-II, Nagapattinam to expedite the trial pending in C.C.No.1216 of 2019.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that accused in this case one K.Paneerselvam is a practicing Advocate in Nagapattinam and Vedharanyam Court. Final report in this case was filed in the year 2019 and it was taken cognizance in C.C.No.1216 of 2019. However, so far, even the summons have not been served on the accused, necessitating the filing of this petition.

3. Heard the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side).

4. It is unfortunate that, though the case was taken on file in the year 2019, even now, summons have not been served on the accused. Therefore, respondent police is directed to take effective steps to serve summons on the accused. The Judicial Magistrate -II, Nagapattinam is directed to complete the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six months from the date of service of summons on the accused. 2/4

5. With the above observations and directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
