The petitioners are working as Assistant Section Officers. The next avenue of promotion is to the post of Section Officer. According to the petitioners, there are two categories for promotion, one from Feeder Category and the other by way of direct recruitment. The respondents are therefore, bound to fix inter se seniority for the purpose of considering the case of individual officers for further promotion. Since the respondents have not taken any action to fix seniority, the petitioners have given a representation on 30.01.2014. However, there was no follow up action taken by the first respondent and as such, the petitioners are before this Court.
2. The first respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the representation dated 30.01.2014 submitted by the petitioners for fixation of seniority on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
3. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
