The learned Additional Advocate General with reference to the letter dated 09.12.2016 from the Director of Land Reforms, Chepauk, Chennai has explained that more than three years old cases were not 3455 originally estimated, as 62 cases do not belong to the Special Deputy Collector (Revenue Court), Tirunelveli and thus, the actual pending cases were 3393, out of which, 2632 cases have been decided, leaving balance of 761 cases pending, which are more than three years old.
2. On our query, the learned Additional Advocate General states that the number of cases pending over one year but less than three years are 2556 cases. This should be the next target to clear off.
3. The further status report be filed in respect of the cases, which are more than one year old, including 761 cases, which are more than three years old, since no cases more than five years are now pending.
