O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to pay the interest to the petitioner at the rate of 8% per annum for the belated payment of his Surrender leave salary, Gratuity & Commutation amount within a time limit to be stipulated by this Court.

2. It had been stated that the petitioner had joined the service of the respondents as driver and after attaining the age of superannuation had retired from service. It is stated that the retirement benefits including Surrender leave salary, Gratuity & Commutation amount had been paid with a delay. The petitioner seeks interest to be paid on the same.

3. It is trite in law to point out for delayed payment respondents 2/4

have to bear interest for the payment effected. It is directed that the respondents should pay interest @ 6% p.a. for the belated period. Such disbursement should be made within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
