: Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the records on the file of the first respondent in connection with the order passed by him G.O.Ms.No.266, School Education Department, dated 18.10.2000, to the extent of the Notification notified under the caption of the Amendments (a) in item No.(1) and quash the same and direct the

respondents to promote the petitioners to the post of P.G.Assistant (History) as they are all in possession of same major subject qualification in Graduation Post Graduation and B.Ed. in preference to the candidates of the cross major subject for existing and immediate future vacancies with all monetary and service benefits. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.R.Jayaprakash, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader, for the respondents.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that during the pendency of the Writ Petition, the grievance of the petitioners is attended to and redressed. The impugned rule is amended. In view of that, learned counsel submitted that the relief claimed now in the writ petition does not survive.

3. The Writ Petition as such, stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs. Consequently, WMP Nos.16163 of 2016 and 9397 of 2017 are closed.
