ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard the learned counsel appearing for the respective parties.
2. The writ petition has been filed at the stage when the election, which was scheduled to have been held on 04.3.2022, to the posts of the President and the Vice President of Kadaiyampatti Town Panchayat, was postponed without notifying the next date.
3. Pursuant to allegations made in the writ petition, the official respondents were called upon to submit their status report and accordingly, the State Government and also the State Election Commission submitted their reports. It is stated that for want of quorum, the election was postponed and the date has been notified as 26.3.2022, on which date, the election to the posts of the President and the Vice President to the town panchayat concerned, would be conducted.
4. In view of the above, we find that the grievance raised by the petitioners has now been redressed by the respondents by notifying the date for election to the posts of the President and the Vice President of Kadaiyamatti Town Panchayat.
5. Hence, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the State Election Commission and also to the Superintendent of Police of the area concerned to monitor the election, so that it would be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Consequently, the connected WMP is closed. There will be no order as to costs.
