This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondent to produce the detenu by name D.Mohanbabu, son of Dakshinamurthy, aged about 25 years, before this Court and set him at liberty.

2.The petitioner is the mother of the detenu. According to her, her son, the detenu herein, has been missing since 31.12.2013. In this connection, she has given a complaint before the respondentPolice and the same was registered in Avadi P.S. Crime No.1037/2014, as directed by this Court. As there is no progress in the matter, the present petition has been filed.

3. The respondent-Police has filed two status reports dated 10.10.2014 and 30.10.2014 explaining the steps that have been taken by them in tracing the detenu. Admittedly, a case has been registered in Avadi P.S. Crime No.1037/2014 as 'man missing'. It is https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

further stated that a special team has been formed to trace the detenu. The said team had visited various places and made enquiries regarding the whereabouts of the detenu. The enquiry revealed that the detenu had an illicit intimacy with one Gowri, wife of one Venkatesan, and they had eloped and are hiding themselves voluntarily. However, the respondent-Police are taking all necessary steps to trace the detenu and to produce him before the Court.

4. In these circumstances, no further orders are necessary. Hence, the Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed. However, we make it clear that the respondent-Police shall continue with the investigation and take necessary and effective steps to trace the detenu, as expeditiously as possible.
