By consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner has come up with the present writ petition for a mandamus, directing the respondents to renew his Document Writer's License (License No.A/1641/99/CH(s)) within the period fixed by this Court.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is a document writer by profession engaged in preparing documents on the stamp paper or plain paper for registration. Originally, he was granted license in the year 1984 under document writers license No.A1366/84/SL dated 23.7.1984. The said license was

being renewed from time to time. Thereafter, the respondents issued a fresh license in the year 1999 under A/1641/99/CH(s) on 25.5.1999 for the period from 1.1.2004 to 31.12.2008 and thereafter, from 1.1.2009 to 31.12.2013. Subsequently, the petitioner applied for renewal of the said license for the further period from 1.1.2014 to 31.12.2018 by submitting Form C application along with required fees, on 29.11.2013. But, so far, renewal license has not been issued to him. The exemption to write document writers' license test will be applicable to the petitioner since his license has been renewed from time to time. However, the application of the petitioner dated 29.11.2013 has not been considered so far. Hence, left with no other alternative, the petitioner has come up with the present writ petition seeking a direction to the respondents to renew his Document Writer's License (License No.A/1641/99/CH(s)) within the period fixed by this Court.

4. I have heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader, who has taken notice on behalf of the respondents.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the submissions made on either side, without going into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 29.11.2013 for renewal of his license under No.A/1641/99/CH(s) and pass appropriate orders / take appropriate action, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
