ORDER

(1) On 07.07.2023, when the matter was first listed, learned counsel for the petitioner was not present. It was informed by the learned Special Government Pleader that the issue raised in the writ petition had become infructuous since Pudhu Vaazhvu Project relating to which the writ petition has been filed, had been closed on 30.06.2017. (2) Today, the matter is listed under the caption ''For Orders''. Learned counsel for the petitioner sought time. But, however the learned Special Government Pleader forwarded a copy of G.O.Ms.No.73, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj [CGS-3] Department dated

30.06.2017. It had been stated in the said Government Order that a new project called 'the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation' project had been constituted at State and District levels and has been funded by the World Bank. It is further pointed out by the learned Special Government Pleader that in the Government Order referred above, the project, Pudhu Vaazhvu Project had been closed and a new project had been formed namely the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project and a Society has also been formed under the name Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Society.

(3) The relevant portions of the Government Order are as follows:- ''3.Since the new Society by name ''Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Society'' is to be formed at State and District Levels, the Project Director, Puthu Vazhvu Project has sent the draft Memorandum of Association and Bye Laws. The members for the General Body and the Executive Committee both for the Districts and the State Society for the new Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Society are suggested and incorporated wherever necessary. Therefore, the Project Director, Pudhu Vazhvu Project has requested the Government to issue orders for the formation of new society ''Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Society'' for the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project, duly approving the Memorandum of Association and Bye Laws which

include the members of General Body and the Executive Committee both for the State and Districts Societies.

4.The Government after careful examination decided to accept the proposal of the Project Director, Pudhu Vazhvu Project and hereby issue orders for the formation of new society Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Society [TNRTS] for the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project in Tamil Nadu, which is t be registered under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975.''

(4) In view of this fact and as correctly pointed out by the learned Special Government Pleader, nothing further survives for adjudication in this writ petition.

(5) The writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
