O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent to forward the petitioner's written representation dated 25.11.2024 to the 1st respondent for taking decision to change over the name of the Street from Chetty Street to "Thai Thanthai Koil Street" in Thiruthani Municipal Limit, Thiruthani.
2. The case of the petitioner is that after demise of the petitioner parents, the petitioner constructed the temple in the petitioner's land, which is situated in the Chetty Street, Thiruthani, the said temple called as "ThaiThanthai Temple". 2/6

The said Thai-Thanthai Temple is situated at Chetty Street, Thiruthani, since the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1978 issued G.O. for the removal of the Caste name in all Streets, but till today the above said Chetty Street remains unchanged. Chetty Street is mentioned as one of the Castes in Tamil Nadu.

The village peoples also represented to the petitioner that the petitioner should take steps with the respondents to change over name of the Caste Word as "Chetty" and insisting the officials to make arrangement for change over the street name as Thai-Thanthai Temple Street instead of Chetty Street. Hence, the petitioner made a written representation to the respondents on 01.08.2024 and made a request to change over the said Chetty Street to Thai-Thanthai Temple Street, but no order has been passed.
5. Hence, the petitioner approached this Court and filed a Writ Petition in W.P.No.28216 of 2024, and this Court directed the second respondent to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner within a period of eight weeks and disposed of the same on 24.09.2024. 3/6

The 4th respondent sent a communication to the petitioner in his proceedings Na.Ka.No.1156/2024, dated 14.11.2024, stating that such a change over the street name by removal of the existing name or to put the name of the street in the powers vested with the Government, and the proposals should be sent by the 2nd respondent; then only after getting proper approval from the Government, the same has been placed before the Municipal Council Meeting for passing resolution.

The petitioner approached respondents 1 and 2 and submitted the petitioner's written representation before the 2nd respondent on 25.11.2024 and made a request to forward the same to the 1st respondent, even though the 2nd respondent received the same on 26.11.2024, but till date the respondents have not taken any decision either to remove the caste name (the existing street name as Chetty Street) or to put "Thai Thanthai Koil Street". Hence, the present writ petition is filed.

Learned Government Advocate appearing for respondents 1 and 2 would submit that the Competent Authority is the 1st respondent and the representation of the petitioner dated 25.11.2024 would be considered by the 1st respondent on merits, in accordance with law within a time frame stipulated by this Court.
10. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.
11. Without going into the merits of the case, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 25.11.2024 on merits, in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
In the result, the writ petition stands disposed of with the above observations and direction. No costs.
