Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the respondents 2 and 3, to forthwith provide electricity service connection (on preferential basis) with load of 7.5 HP, to the agricultural lands comprised in Survey No.262/3B of Pikkili Village, Pennagaram Taluk, Dharmapuri District, in pursuant to the orders of the Scrutiny Committee chaired by the 1st respondent dated 16.03.2020 and in pursuant to the registration of Application bearing No.PLD/No.158/20-21 dated 10.08.2020 on the file of the 2nd respondent. O R D E R

This writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the respondents 2 and 3 to provide electricity service connection (on preferential basis) with the load of 7.5 HP to the agricultural lands comprised in Survey No. 262/3B of Pikkili Village, Pennagaram Taluk, Dharmapuri District.

2. The petitioner, who belong to Backward Community (BC) has applied for agricultural electricity service connection on preferential basis. The petitioner made an application for funds to dig a deep bore-well and the Scrutiny Committee chaired by the 1st respondent has passed an order dated 16.03.2020 granting subsidy to the farmers, while so, the Dharmapuri District Central Co-operative Bank Limited has passed an order dated 20.03.2020, directing the electricity authorities to provide electricity service connection. Pursuant to the said order, the petitioner made an application to the 2nd respondent on 10.08.2020 for effecting service connection but the same has not been considered so far and therefore, this writ petition is filed.

Mr.M.Varunkumar, learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents 2 and 3 submits that the electricity service connection on priority basis were effected based on the quota allotted by the Government and this year, quota has not been allotted so far and therefore, the petitioner's application has not been considered.

4. In view of the rival submissions made, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner as and when the quota has been released by the Government for the priority classes.
