Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to Writ of mandamus directing the respondents herein to proceed with renovation work of the temple namely Arulmigu Sri Chinna Mariamman Temple existing at Chinna Kadai Veedi Salem and perform Kumbabishekam for the said temple within an stipulated time.

ORDER

This writ petition seeks a mandamus directing the respondents being the Commissioner, Joint Commissioner of HR&CE Department and the Executive Officer, Arulmigu Chinna Mariamman Thirukovil, Chinnakadai Veethi, Salem-1 (temple/temple in question), R1, R2 and R3 respectively, to proceed with renovation work of the temple and perform Kumbabishekam within a stipulated time as fixed by this Court. The petitioner has made https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

the same request by representation dated 16.11.2015 before the Executive Officer of the Temple.

2. Though no counter has been filed in the matter, Mr.NRR Arun Natarajan, learned Government Advocate for the respondents has written instructions to state that the temple an ancient one, has had no Kumbabishekam performed till date as the approval of the State Level Heritage Committee must be obtained prior to any proceeding in that regard.

3. In the light of the instructions conveyed now, let the petitioner approach the Commissioner/R1 reiterating its request for renovation and repair of the temple and performing of Kumbabishekam. Such request, as and when filed, will be escalated to the Heritage Committee and a decision taken in regard to the request, as expeditiously as possible.

4. With these observations/directions, this writ petition stands disposed. No costs.
