ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for direction directing to the respondents to grant interest of delayed payment of retirement benefits of Rs.23,59,601/- from 31.05.2018 to till date as per Rule 45-A of Tamil Nadu Pension Rules within a time limit to be fixed by this Hon'ble Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioner was appointed as Head Works Fitter (Grade-I). Subsequently, he was promoted as Junior Engineer and he was allowed to retire on 31.05.2018 from the second respondent office. However, he was not settled with any retirement benefits. Hence, he made a representation and he was settled with retirement benefits only on 06.05.2023, after a period of four years. Therefore, now the petitioner seeks interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits.

4. Considering the above, the respondents are directed to consider the case of the petitioner and pass order for the belated payment of retirement

benefits of the petitioner with applicable interest, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
