O R D E R

The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.11.2012 on merits and thereby grant notional promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (AR) for the year 2010-2011 at par with my juniors along with pensionary benefits.

2.The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner joined the services of the Tamil Nadu Police as Grade II Police Constable on 14.08.1980 and after being promoted as Grade I

Police Constable and Sub - Inspector of Police, was awarded with accelerated promotion to the post of Inspector of Police Armed Reserve for taking part in the extermination of Forest Brigand Veerappan and his associates.

3.It is the further case of the petitioner that he is fully qualified for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (AR) and in this regard, made several representations to the respondent. However, his representations were not considered and was superannuated on 31.01.2012.

4.It is the further case of the petitioner that after retirement, he made representation to the respondents on 08.11.2012 seeking to grant notional promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (AR) along with pensionary benefits and since the said representation has not yet been considered, the petitioner has filed this writ petition. 5.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice if this Court issues direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.11.2012.

6.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has no serious objection for issuing direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation. 7.In view of the above, this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.11.2012 and to pass appropriate orders on the same, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
