ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for a mandamus seeking for a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 05.12.2019 and 08.02.2020 requesting the first respondent to correct the name of the petitioner in his SSLC Certificate and Higher Secondary Course Certificate as "Anthoni Selvaraj" instead of "Anthony Selvaraj".

It is the case of the petitioner that in his SSLC and Higher Secondary Course Certificates, his name has been wrongly mentioned as "Anthony Selvaraj" instead of "Anthoni Selvaraj". According to him, in respect of all other records which includes, his passport, Aadhar Card, Election Commission Identity Card, his name has been correctly mentioned as "Anthoni Selvaraj". It is his case that due to the mistake in the SSLC and Higher Secondary Course Certificates, he is unable to apply for Ph.D programmes. In such circumstances, he has given a representation on 05.12.2019 and 08.02.2020 to the first respondent seeking for correction of his name from "Anthony Selvaraj" to "Anthoni Selvaraj" in his SSLC and Higher Secondary Course Certificates. Since his representations have not been considered, this Writ Petition has been filed. 3.

Heard Mr.M.Sivavarthanan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.P.Raja, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the first respondent is ready and willing to consider the petitioner's representations seeking for correction of his name in the SSLC Certificate as well as the Higher Secondary Course Certificate subject to the condition that the petitioner produces all the original records for verification. Admittedly, the petitioner is having originals of the following documents, which mention his correct name, namely, Anthoni Selvaraj.

(a) Election Commission Identity Card.

(b) Aadhar Card (c) Pan Card (d) Passport 5.

After recording the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 05.12.2019 and 08.02.2020 seeking for correction of his name in the SSLC and Higher Secondary Course Certificates as "Anthoni Selvaraj" instead of "Anthony Selvaraj" based on the aforementioned documents without insisting for the production of the original school records and pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the aforesaid direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
