This writ petition has been filed in the nature of a mandamus seeking a direction to the respondent to consider the representation dated 11.11.2024 submitted by the petitioner seeking appointment to her son on compassionate grounds, owing to the unfortunate death of her husband, while in service on 15.06.2010.

2. The petitioner's husband was working as Graduate Teacher in Government Higher Secondary School, Isaiyanur, Villupuram District. He was transferred to various places and finally, he was working at Padhur Government High School, Ulundurpet. While so, he died on 15.06.2010. The petitioner had given an application on 11.07.2012, seeking to be appointed on compassionate grounds. At that time, there was a maintenance case pending, wherein, the petitioner had sought maintenance to be paid by her husband. The son of the petitioner was a minor. After he had attained the age of majority, an application was filed on 11.11.2024, seeking compassionate employment to be given to the son of the petitioner.

3. It is contended by the learned Special Government Pleader that the family had received the family benefits payable to the late husband of the petitioner herein. It is contended that the petitioner had not pursued her application seeking employment on compassionate grounds and later on, after her son had attained majority, filed an application dated 11.11.2024, seeking employment for her son.

4. These are all aspects which have to be enquired into by the respondent. The financial status of the petitioner also has to be enquired into by the respondent 2/4

and if the respondent requires any documents, the respondent may ask the petitioner to furnish the same and thereafter, take a decision on the application submitted by her.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner pointed out that the jurisdictional Tahsildar had already made an enquiry with regard to the financial circumstances of the family of the petitioner and also issued a certificate in that regard.

6. All these aspects may be taken into consideration within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. If there are various other applications, then, the eligibility of the son of the petitioner may first be determined as per seniority and thereafter, necessary orders may be passed. With the above direction, this writ petition is allowed. No costs. 14.03.2025 gya Index : Yes/No C.V.KARTHIKEYAN, J.
