ORDER
This writ petition has been filed challenging the order dated 06.02.2023, passed by the third respondent and the order of confirmation dated 01.12.2023 passed by the second respondent, thereby imposed punishment of rank reduction from the post of Inspector of Police to SubInspector of Police by one stage for the period of two years. 2.
Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court. 3.
The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that already the petitioner served the said punishment for the period of nearly 11⁄2 years and as such the period of two years may be reduced for the 11⁄2 years with out challenging the order of punishment.
4.
The learned counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that as against the order passed by the second respondent in the appeal, the petitioner preferred a revision and it is pending on the file of the first respondent.
5.
Though the order of punishment is not challenged, in view of the submission made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner thereby restricted the prayer, this Court is inclined to reduce the period of punishment. Accordingly, the punishment of rank reduction from the post of Inspector of Police to Sub Inspector of Police by one stage for the period of two years is modified as rank reduction from the post of Inspector of Police to the Sub Inspector of Police by one stage for the period of eighteen (18) months.
6.
With the above modification, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no orders as to costs.
