Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to appoint the petitioners as Sanitary and Health Inspector, Grade -II on the basis of the order made in W.P.No.43971 of 2025 dated 13.11.2025 and on the basis of the representation submitted by the petitioners seeking extension of the benefit of the above judgement with all consequential benefits. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to appoint the petitioners as Sanitary and Health Inspector, Grade -II on the basis of the order made in W.P.No.43971 of 2025 dated 13.11.2025 and on the basis of the representation submitted by the petitioners seeking extension of the benefit of the above judgement with all consequential benefits.
2. With the consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side, this Writ Petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioners are holders of Diploma in Sanitary Inspector Course awarded by Pondicherry University Community College. However, the said diploma was not accepted by the Government of Tamil Nadu while recruiting for the psot of Multi purpose Health Worker. Therefore, in the earlier occasion, an Association filed a writ petition before this Court in W.P.No.25673 of 2013 to consider their representation to join them to the post of health Inspector GradeII and Sanitary Inspector in Government of Tamil Nadu for the existing and immediate future vacancies in the post of Health Inspector Grade - II and Sanitary Inspector who are in possession of Diploma in Sanitation Course awarded by the Pondicherry University Community College. This Court, by an order dated 12.11.
2023 issued direction to extend the benefits to the petitioners therein. While so, in another writ petition filed in W.P.No.43971 of 2025, this Court issued a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioners therein and other candidates who obtained Diploma in Pondicherry University Community College for appointment to the post of Health Inspector Grade-II, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioners herein made several representations on 20.01.2026, 21.01.2026, 22.01.2026 & 09.02.2026 seeking to extend the same benefits made in W.P.No.43971 of 2025. Since the same was not considered, the petitioners are before this Court.
4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that the respondents will consider the petitioners' representations and pass appropriate orders within a specified time.
5. In view of the same, the 2nd respondent is directed to consider the petitioners' representations and pass appropriate orders on the same within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
