(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) C.M.P.Nos.6324, 6600 and 6344 of 2021 have been filed on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission for extension of time to complete the exercise in terms of the order dated August 18, 2020.

2. The Contempt Petition had been adjourned earlier on the submission of Public Service Commission that it would apply for extension of time.

3. According to the Public Service Commission, the Transport Department had to look into several features before approving the names of the eligible candidates. Though the initial vetting, according to the Public Service Commission, was done by the Transport

Department by December, 2020, certain clarifications were sought and the Public Service Commission says that there are 70 cases which are pending with the Transport Department for clarification. The State is represented and says that all the matters have been dealt with and even those sent for clarification have been replied to.

4. The order dated August 18, 2020 permitted a period of four weeks for the Transport Department to vet the matters and a further period of four weeks for the Public Service Commission to announce results of the candidates to be called for the oral examination. Since the Transport Department's part of the job now appears to be over, the time for the Public Service Commission to publish the results of candidates to be called for the interview is enlarged till April 30, 2021. Such extension is peremptory.

5. By May 1, 2021 the list of the successful candidates should be published on the website of the Public Service Commission for the candidates to be able to ascertain the same.

6. The Contempt Petition will appear on 09.06.2021.

C.M.P.No.6600 of 2021 in W.A.No.501 of 2020, 6324 of 2021 in W.A.No.445 of 2020 and C.M.P.Nos.6344 of 2021 in W.A.No.509 of 2020 are disposed of without any order as to costs. (S.B., CJ.) (S.K.R., J.) 30.03.2021 sra
