Respondent Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider and pass orders on the representation dated 22.02.2023 seeking stepping up of the pay on par with his junior Mr.Murugan (Enlistment No.1320) on merits and as per law within a time to be stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction directing the respondent to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner seeking stepping up of the pay on par with his junior. 1/4
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.
3. The petitioner was appointed as Grade-II Police Constable. Subsequently, he was promoted to the post of Special Sub Inspector of Police from the year 2018. In the year 2020, there was pay anomaly in fixation of pay, as a result of which, his junior's pay was fixed higher than that of the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation and on receipt of the same, the respondent, by its proposal dated 19.03.2023, forwarded it to the Head of the Department for consideration. Thereafter, the respondent, by another proposal dated 24.05.2023 by considering the request made by the petitioner, forwarded the proposal to correct the pay anomaly with his junior. However, so far no action has been taken on the proposal sent by the respondent. Thereafter, on 27.01.2024, the respondent had sent another proposal to the Director General of Police, Chennai.
4. Considering the above, the Director General of Police, Chennai, is directed to consider the case of the petitioner, as forwarded by the respondent by its proceedings dated 27.01.2024, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4
5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
