By consent, the writ petitions itself are taken up for final disposal.

In W.P.No.12208 of 2015, the petitioner claims that her mother purchased the property admeasuring to an extent of 1200 sq.ft in S.Nos.13 and 14, Plot No.65, 1st Main Road, Bharath Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai-99 for a valuable consideration and thereafter, she put up a small house and subsequently sold the same to the petitioner on 02.12.2001 and she is enjoying the property from that date without any interference. The petitioner submitted an application on 03.10.2014 for getting domestic electricity service connection and also paid the necessary fees and since she has not been favoured with any response, came forward to file this writ petition.

In W.P.No.12211 of 2015, the petitioner claims that he purchased the property admeasuring to an extent of 1200 sq.ft in S.Nos.13 and 14, Plot No.67, 1st Main Road, Bharath Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai-99 for a valuable consideration in the year June 2011 and thereafter, he put up a small house. The petitioner submitted an application on 03.10.2014 for getting domestic electricity service connection and also paid the necessary fees and since he has not been favoured with any response, came forward to file this writ petition.
4. Heard the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and Mr.P.R.Dhilipkumar, who accepts notice for the respondent.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners would submit that the amenity of electricity is considered to be a basic and fundamental right and cannot be denied and placed reliance upon a decision of this Court in T.M.Prakash and Others Vs. The District Collector, Tiruvannamalai District, Thiruvannamalai and another reported in (2014) 1 MLJ 261 and prays for appropriate orders.
6. This Court, without going into the merits of the application/representation, directs the respondent to consider and
dispose of the representations dated 03.10.2015 in accordance with law and after giving an opportunity of personal hearing, shall pass orders as expeditiously as possible, not later than six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision to the petitioners.
7. The writ petitions are disposed of accordingly. No costs.
