ORDER

The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 4(1)(A) Tamil Nadu Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 2024 in Crime No.22 of 2026, on the file of the respondent Police, seeks anticipatory bail. 1/4

2. The allegation against the petitioner is that the petitioner is involved in procuring 672 bottles of liquor 180 ML and while selling the same on Thiruvalluvar Day on 16.01.2026 and on prior information, when the respondent police visited the place, the petitioner after seeing the police ran away. Hence, the properties were seized from the petitioner and a case was registered against him.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. Though it is stated that the petitioner is having one previous case, he has been falsely implicated under Section 188 of IPC, and the petitioner is ready to co-operate with the investigation. Hence, he prayed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) for the respondent police, reiterated the prosecution case and submitted that though the petitioner is having one previous case similar in nature, and the huge quantity involved in this case. He opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

Considering the fact that the huge quantity of 672 bottles of liquor 180 ML were recovered; though the petitioner is having one previous case similar in nature, and the huge quantity involved in this case; this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 6.Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 19.02.2026 MSM To 1.The Inspector of Police E1, Singanallur Police Station Coimbatore, Crime No. 22 of 2026
