ORDER
The above writ petition has been filed to quash the proceedings of the respondent in KA.ENN / U.MI.PO/E.PA/ NA.PURAM/KO.KATTU /A.ENN.128/26 dated 07.02.2026.
2. The case of the petitioner is that he has been provided with electricity service connection bearing No.332/231/09 way back in the year 2018. Be that as it may, the petitioner was served with the impugned proceedings dated 07.02.2026, in which it has been that the service connection bearing No.312129-617 which originally stood in the name of one Sundari was transferred to petitioner's name in August 2019 and had been in petitioner's utilisation since then. It also directs the petitioner to produce the documents relating to transfer of service connection within one week's time, failing which, the service connection would be disconnected.
3. On receipt of the said proceedings, when enquired, the petitioner was required to furnish the application submitted by him at the time of obtaining the service connection. According to the petitioner, the said documents was misplaced during renovation of his house. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite the respondent possessing the said details in his records, asking him to produce the application submitted at the time of obtaining service connection, which is after a lapse of six years, is illegal. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.
4. Mr.L.Jaivenkatesh, learned Standing Counsel who takes notice for the sole respondent would submit that the respondent had only required the
petitioner for certain documents vide its proceedings dated 07.02.2026, however, the petitioner without providing the same or submitting his explanation, had rushed to the Court.
5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and also perused the materials placed before this Court.
6. The challenge in the present writ petition, is to the show cause notice of the respondent dated 07.02.2026, in which the respondent is only seeking certain clarifications. However, without providing the same, the petitioner has rushed to the Court. Therefore, there is no merits. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. The petitioner is directed to provide the details sought for by the petitioner in writing forthwith and on receipt of the same, the respondent shall consider and pass order within a period of two weeks thereafter.
