ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to pay the petitioners interest for the belated payment of 489 days, 541 days, 550 days, 550 days, 489 days, 520 days, 550 days, 520 days, 540 days and 610 days respectively, in paying them the PF, Gratuity and Earned Leave Salary at the rate of 12% p.a., within a time frame as fixed by this Court.

It is the case of the petitioners that they joined the service of the respondent Corporation during the years 1987, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2024 and had retired from service during the year 2024 respectively. However, their terminal benefits namely, PF, Gratuity and Earned Leave Salary have been settled only after 489 days, 541 days, 550 days, 550 days, 489 days, 520 days, 550 days, 520 days, 540 days and 610 days respectively. Therefore, the petitioners claimed 12% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits
and they have also made a representation on 04.12.2025, 08.12.2025, 09.12.2025, 12.12.2025, 13.12.2025, 24.12.2025, 29.12.2025 & 07.05.2026 respectively to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which have not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondent to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioners, if there is no impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
6. WMP.No.7923 of 2026 filed by the petitioners to permit them to join together and file a Single Writ Petition is allowed subject to payment of a single Court fee.
