ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent police to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.04.2017 to conduct the cultural programme on 04/05/2017 at Muthumariamman Kovil, at Veppur, Cuddalore District.

2.It is the grievance of the petitioner that he has submitted a representation dated 20.04.2017 to the respondent, seeking permission to conduct Cultural Programme at Muthumariamman Kovil, Veppur, Cuddalore District, on 20.04.2017 in the event of Sri Muthumariamman temple festival. However,no order has been passed till date. Hence, this petition. 3.Though the petitioner sought for permission to conduct "cultural programme", learned counsel for the petitioner restricted the same to the extent of conducting Orchestra, for which, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent has raised no serious objection.

4.In view of the submission so made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.04.2017 and grant permission to the petitioner to conduct Orchestra at Muthumariamman Kovil, Veppur, Cuddalore District in the event of Sri Muthumariamman temple festival, subject to usual conditions. It is made clear that this Court has not granted any direction to conduct "Adal Padal Nigazhchi / dance programme" in the name of "cultural programme".
