The appellant/accused in SP.C.C.No.1 of 2013 was convicted by the learned Sessions Judge, Fast Track Mahila Court, Namakkal by judgment dated 10.08.2015 and sentenced him to undergo seven years rigorous imprisonment for the offence under Section 6 r/w. 5(h) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 [POCSO Act] and to pay a fine of Rs.2,000/-, in default to undergo six months simple imprisonment. Against which, the present criminal appeal is filed.

2.The learned Government Advocate [Crl. Side] today produced a communication from the Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison, Coimbatore in letter No.154/fF4/2023 dated 24.01.2023 informing that the appellant Manikandan S/o.Perumal, Convict Prisoner No.18711 was in prison from 11.08.2015, thereafter on 10.02.2020 he was transferred to Open Prison, Singanallur where he undergone his remaining period of sentence and he was released on 05.01.2021. 3.In view of the fact that the appellant had already served the sentence, nothing further survives in the present appeal. Accordingly, the Criminal Appeal stands disposed of.
