O R D E R
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mrs.P.Kavitha, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents/contemnors.
2.Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the curriculam subject, namely M.Sc. Applied Chemistry, Post Graduate Degree, conducted by the Avinasilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women (Deemed University), Coimbatore and the M.Sc. Chemistry Degree issued by any recognised University are one and the same and despite positive direction issued by this Court in W.P. No.25222 of 2015 dated 09.09.2015, which is the subject matter of the Contempt, no orders have been passed. Therefore, the petitioner is constrained to file this contempt petition.
3.Per contra, learned Government Advocate on instruction would submit that unless and until the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission considers the issue of equivalence, the prayer sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted and hence prays for dismissal of the contempt petition.
4.This Court in the light of the above facts and circumstances, directs the Secretary, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission to send necessary communication to P & AR Department, Government of Tamil Nadu to ascertain as to whether the M.Sc. Applied Chemistry, Post Graduate degree awarded by Avinasilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women (Deemed University), Coimbatore is equivalent to M.Sc. Chemistry Degree issued by any recognised University, by taking note of G.O. Ms. No.164, passed by the very same department dated 21.08.2000 and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible. 5.In the light of the same, the contempt petition is closed.
