Respondents Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to include the name of the petitioner in the panel drawn for promotion to the post of Forester in the panel year 2013-2014 and to confer him promotion to the post of Forester on par with his junior with effect from 19.04.2013, with all consequential service and monetary benefits within a specified time limit.

With consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for disposal at the admission stage.

The grievance of the petitioner is that he was appointed as Plot Watcher, in forest department, on a daily wage basis on 01.11.1979 and after a long innings, his services were regularised in the cadre of forest watcher with effect from 07.02.1995. Thereafter, he was given promotion to the post of Forest Guard and since the departmental proceedings initiated against him under Rule 17(b) of Tamilnadu Civil Services https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
(Discipline and Appeal) Rules were dropped on 03.05.2013, on the ground that the charges levelled against him were not proved, petitioner claims that his name should be included in the promotion panel for the year 2013-2014, for which, he has also given a representation on 25.06.2016. However, the same has not been considered, hence this Writ Petition.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner.

Mr.M.Santhanaraman, learned Additional Government Pleader (Forests) takes notice for the respondents and seek four weeks time to consider the petitioner's representation. 5.Considering the limited relief sought for in this petition and without going into the merits of the matter, this Court hereby directs the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
