This writ petition has been filed for direction to the respondent to select and appoint the petitioner as Social Science Teacher. 2.
Heard, the learned counsel appearing on either side. 3.
The petitioner is qualified with Computer Application and Education. She registered her name in the Employment Exchange. The respondent announced that teachers for Government Schools will be recruited by conducting Teacher Eligibility Test, which was thereafter conducted on 12.07.2012. The petitioner has come out with successful mark securing 96. The petitioner was directed to appear for certificate verification on 07.09.2012. Even then, the petitioner was not selected for the post of Teacher in Social Science.

The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent submitted that as per rules there are prescribed qualifications to write Teacher Eligibility Test i.e. 1) candidates who passed Higher Secondary course - 10+2 pattern and a Diploma in Teacher Education in 2/6
a recognised Teacher Training Institute/DIET for appointment as Teacher for Class 1 to 5, 2) candidates who have passed Bachelor Degree (BA, B.Sc, B.Lit in Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, History and Geography and a degree in anyone of the equivalent subjects from a recognised University under 10+2+3 pattern and a Bachelor Degree in Education (B.Ed) from a recognised University for appointment as Teacher for Class 6 to 8 and 3) candidates appearing for the Final Year Examination of B.Ed during the current academic year are also eligible to appear for Teacher Eligibility Test. Whereas the petitioner has not passed Bachelor Degree in one of the subjects mentioned in the notification or a degree in any one of the equivalent subjects from a recognised University as per the aforesaid notification. 5.
Admittedly, the petitioner had passed degree in Computer Application and Education. Therefore, she is not entitled to be appointed as BT Assistant in Government School. Therefore, the prayer sought for in this writ petition cannot be granted. As such, this writ petition is devoid of merits and liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this writ 3/6
petition is dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
