With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2. The prayer in the writ petition lies in a narrow compass. A charge memo dated 14.12.2011 was issued against the petitioner under Rule 3(b) of the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service Rules.

3. It is seen that the disciplinary proceedings are pending against the petitioner for more than 3 years. Now the petitioner has sought for a direction to the respondent to complete the oral enquiry and dispose the charge memo dated 14.12.2011 within a stipulated period.

4. As rightly submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner, departmental proceedings cannot be kept pending for long years and the petitioner has the right for speedy disposal of the departmental action initiated against him. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

5. In the result, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to conclude the departmental proceedings within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
