Online rejection of the petitioner [ Roll No.12TE23464193] made by the second respondent/Teachers Recruitment Board is under challenge.

The facts that led to the filing of the writ petition is given hereunder:- The petitioner passed Senior School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) during April, 1993 completed his Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSCC) in March 1997 and completed her course in B.Sc., Botany during April 2001. It also did degree of Bachelor of Education in June 2005.

3. The petitioner further submits that Notification dated 07.03.2012 issued by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board for the Teachers Eligibility Test. It consists of two papers i.e. Paper I for Classes I to V and Page No. 2 of 6

Paper II for Classes VI to VIII.

4. The petitioner applied for the Teacher post and appeared for the exams held on 14.10.2012 and she secured 93 marks in Paper-II and she was called for verification of Certificate through online. But, online display for Roll No.12TE23464193 bearing the petitioner's name has been marked as not eligible.

5. Heard Mr.Abrar Mohammed Abdullah, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.T.M.Rajangam, learned Government Advocate appearing for the first and third respondent and Mr.C.Kathiravan, learned Standing Counsel for second respondent.

6. The learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that the impugned Internet rejection of the petitioner is in violation of principle of natural justice.

7. Mr.C.Kathiravan, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the second respondent submits that according to the Notification, the Teacher's Eligibility Test consists of two papers. Paper II for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII and the prescribed qualification as per the notification for the teachers for classes VI to VIII, the candidates should Page No. 3 of 6

have passed Bachelor Decree B.A.,/B.Sc.,/B.Litt in the relevant subject i.e. Tamil, Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, History and Geography under 10+2+3 pattern along with Degree in Teacher Education i.e. B.Ed. Qualification. The petitioner has not stated in the affidavit, for which subject, he appeared for examination. However, Mr.C.Kathiravan, learned Standing Counsel would submit that the petitioner has applied test for Teacher Post ( Social Studies).

8. The petitioner has applied for Teacher Post (Social Studies) though he has completed B.Sc., Degree in Botany. Having taken up Paper II in the social studies, the petitioner should have either completed B.A., History or B,A., Geography.

9. Having completed science degree and taken up Paper II in the social studies, it should not lie in the mouth of the petitioner that the impugned Internet rejection status is incorrect.

10. Social studies is a subject which specifically talks about a country's economy, geography, and anthropology etc. The definition of Social Studies reads as follows:- Page No. 4 of 6

"Social Studies : a part of a school or college curriculum concerned with the study of social relationships and the functioning of society and usually made up of courses in history, government, economics, civics, sociology, geography, and anthropology".

11. Based on the aforesaid discussions and circumstances, the petitioner has not made out a case and therefore, this writ petition stands dismissed. There is no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
